Patricia Jones is a volunteer at Edson’s ‘Take it or leave it’ building at the Recycling centre. She has been volunteering there since last October.

Some of Patricia’s volunteer duties include helping unload vehicles of slightly used items for reuse. She helps sort through the items and puts them out for display in their proper locations.
The program is open Fridays and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. She reminds the community not to bring items down and drop off when they are not in operation.

Patricia says she loves to give something back to the community she lives in and she really enjoys volunteering there two days a week. She says it is a wonderful idea to have a spot where items can be recycled and reused.

“We do not take cribs due to safety reasons but if the mattress is in good shape we will take that,” Patricia says. “We cannot take car seats either they should be taken the Edson Health Unit. Clothing, shoes, and blankets need to go to our local Thrift store.”

“We do take Christmas stuff for next season along with household items and furniture. We also have skies and ski boots so if you have young children that are still growing you may want to consider getting a slightly used pair. We also have hockey equipment, books, toys and puzzles,” says Jones.

Jones says she is looking forward to the new building that they will soon be moving into, “It will have heat in the sorting area which will be really nice.”

“Keep us in mind when you are doing spring cleaning and you feel like tossing something toss it our way as someone might just be looking for that. And remember to check us out first if you are looking too,” Jones said. You can always ‘Take it or leave it’.
