Posted by on Mar 7, 2013 in Press

The Hinton Voice Tyler Waugh – Thu, Mar 07, 2013 New opportunities to recycle household items at the Rowan Street recycling depot have been well used so far, says the Town of Hinton. Mike Schwirtz, infrastructure services director for the Town of Hinton, said containers for aerosols, ink, drink containers and batteries needed to be emptied only two weeks after being put in place. “I don’t know if people just had them stored up at home and didn’t know where to take them, or what the deal is, but the response has been overwhelming,” Schwirtz said, adding that the items can also be taken...

Stackable Recycling Bins Available at Depot

Ed Moore Wednesday, March 6, 2013 1:05:43 MST PM For those who like to keep an orderly recycling area at home the Edson and District Recycling Depot is now selling stackable bins. The depot has stackable and conventional plastic bins for sale, manager Anne Auriat said. The assorted bins available at the depot range from $8 to $12. The new beverage recycle bins will be installed in the spring when the weather is more...

New Take It or Leave It gearing up for April 12 opening

Ed Moore Wednesday, March 6, 2013 12:45:32 MST PM The brand new Take It or Leave It facility at the Edson and District Recycling Depot is scheduled to open in early April. “We’re trying for April 12,” depot manager Anne Auriat said. The new building, estimated to cost $100,000, will be separate from the depot. The standalone facility is located just east of the depot. “Because of the popularity of the program it was felt a standalone building would be the best,” Auriat said. The new building will be located away from the current heavy traffic area — so recyclers and Take It or Leave It...

Beverage container recycling opportunities to increase

Ed Moore Friday, February 15, 2013 1:13:52 MST PM Edson residents will soon be able to do something they haven’t been able to do – beverage container recycling outside the home. Up to now people had to throw their beverage containers in the same container as their garbage. That will soon change thanks to officials at the Town of Edson and at the Edson and District Recycling Society. Thanks to a $25,000 grant secured through the Alberta Beverage Container Recycling Corporation’s (ABCRC) Community Champions Program the society has secured 23 beverage-recycling containers. The...
