Environment Week Festival: Edson

Join us Sunday June 2nd at Centennial Park in Edson for plenty of fun activities for people of all ages.

  • Community Garden Display- A display to provide information on Community Gardens and generate interest in their project. The garden creates a place for citizens to gather and connect within nature; it also provides community members with an ecologically sound food system. Schools and general community members can also enjoy learning about nature and ecofriendly environments at the garden.
  • Bird-Bat House Making- Children will have the opportunity to build either a birdhouse or bat house as well as decorate it to their liking.
  • People Powered Party- The Environment Festival will be People Powered! In order to power the DJ and sound system, community members will cycle to generate energy. This party will also have interactive games for the non-cyclists and a real-time display system for the riders.
  • Bear/ Cougar Awareness Presentation- A Bear Smart Specialist with Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development will do a presentation on bear and cougar awareness. The Big Green Puppet Bus- An amazing mobile puppet theatre.
  • Face Painting- Madison Charmin from Edson will be painting faces at the festival.
  • Bike Repair- Ron’s Outdoor Source For Sports will be providing information and great tips on bike repair and maintenance.
  • Alberta Beverage Container Recycling Corporation Green Team- The GO Green Team is a group of enthusiastic youth who will be promoting beverage container recycling in our community.
  • Athabasca Watershed Council- They will have a display on themselves and projects they are currently working on.
  • Recycled Paper Presentation- children will have the opportunity to create their very own recycled paper.
  • Thank You Presentations- Thank you’s to organizations who have supported us in the past year.
